Faces And Figures

Since his college days Mr. Johnson was always fascinated with the series of portraits completed by Pablo Picasso just prior to his death on April 8, 1973. These paintings were exhibited in Palais de Avignon from May 23, 1973 to September 23, 1973.

Mr. Johnson's “Faces” are inspired by that showing of Picasso's work. He is also working on a series of figurative abstractions of female “Figures”.

His ongoing series of Faces and Female Figures hopefully engages the viewer in ways they find interesting and thoughtful.

“There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun”

Pablo Picasso
