Picasso's Green Still Life

I’ve never been a fan of green; it’s just not my color. When I first came across Picasso’s “Green Still Life” in a book, it didn’t resonate with me at all. The title alone gave away its surplus of green! It is garishly green. However, when I finally saw the actual painting at MOMA in New York, I found it had a certain charm. Since then, I’ve seen it several times, and I have to admit, it’s grown on me.

Inspired by that piece, I decided to create my own green painting last year. I started it but then left it sitting in a corner, facing the wall, until just this week. I finally flipped it over, put it on my easel, and got back to work. I incorporated some elements reminiscent of Picasso’s piece like the pear and those textural dots—while infusing my own style into it. The end result is my interpretation of Picasso’s green painting “Green”.
